Adam, we (me and my wife Ann-Helen) watched the movie yesterday evening. Congratulations to both you and Mattias. I find your perspectives interesting and relevant. I never thought about the difference between something being free or being given. The de-commodification agenda is also mine. Is there any article of yours where you describe the farm in more detail and also how the economics of it all works out and to what extent the radical neighbouring (a nice term) spreads in your neighborhood? You can also send me any relevant stuff to gunnar at grolink.se
Thank you for the opportunity to attend the movie and have a conversation—I'm really looking forward to it! No doubt, it will be sincere, beautiful, and thought-provoking. I hope you and yours are well. 🧡
I have been blessed to be familiar with Mattias and Campfire Stories for a few years, and when I heard that two of the most wise and generous humans I admire were creating together it felt surreal. Through tears of grief and joy I viewed the film. What remains now is firm resolve to spend my remaining years working to unravel the spells of materialism I have been blinded by… the courage displayed by you and Mattias are some of the brightest lights inspiring me on this sorrow and wonder filled path.
Ah, this is necessary medicine for me today as I continue my own struggle against the loss of relationship to consumerism. The visible work of a funeral celebrant/grief ritualist is fleeting; done well, the resultant healing can be deep.
How to put a cash-money ‘price’ on that, even if I were willing (which I no longer am)? What ‘currency’ applies in a geographical scattering?
Hi Adam, I watched your story yesterday and again this morning with my husband. My heart recognized a deep truth in your words which resulted in tears each time. Thank you for allowing the world to witness the soul of your work. It has planted seeds here in Indiana and I imagine all around the world.
A beautiful background story on this beautiful film. 👏👏👏👏👏
I feel blessed to have this beauty in my life now, and the two of you. A gift; meeting people in these mediums. 💝
Thank you for these insightful and resonating thoughts about Mattias' charisma as well. You both have gentle yet determined energy and the collaboration in this piece is so delicious for the rest of us. The land, the relatives, the beautiful words and community. Well done, Adam.
Once again Adam thank you for the tears. I have been a patron of Campfire Stories for many years. Each one of Mattias' films is beautifully crafted straight from the heart. I live in Aotearoa but can feel his graciousness and warmth through all his communications.
Here is a poem by Jane Hirshfield that came to mind when you were wondering about howpeople in the future will view the film.
Beautiful! All the beauty, the path of beauty, with no bypassing! I have been starved for this, but the bypassing is everywhere, intractable and crazy making. There is no beauty with bypassing!

Mutual sustenance feels remote this morning.

Adam, your writing is SO graceful; thank you for bringing us to your table (((*)))

Let them not say: we did not see it.
We saw.
Let them not say: we did not hear it.
We heard.
Let them not say: they did not taste it.
We ate, we trembled.
Let them not say: it was not spoken, not written.
we spoke,
we witnessed with voices and hands.
Let them not say: they did nothing.
We did not enough.
Let them say, as they must say something:
A kerosene beauty.
It burned.
Let them say we warmed ourselves by it,
read by its light, praised,
and it burned.
Beautiful! All the beauty, the path of beauty, with no bypassing! I have been starved for this, but the bypassing is everywhere, intractable and crazy making. There is no beauty with bypassing!
